Ben Collett is a managing director in the Global Restructuring Advisory practice at Duff & Phelps, working in the firm’s Birmingham, Manchester and London offices.

He has over 20 years of experience advising corporates on major strategic change and transformation projects focused on profit improvement and liquidity for clients in both underperformance and growth situations.

Ben has particular experience advising clients on:

  • Acquisitions – Developing profit improvement and cash programs to ensure the acquisition exceeds synergy targets and meets its investment criteria ahead of plan.
  • Disposals – Accelerated profit and cash programs to improve value ahead of a sale process.
  • Turnaround situations – Accelerated profit improvement and cash generation programs to return performance back to plan and secure appropriate financing.
  • Operational change – Manufacturing footprint changes, product transfer, downsizing and closure, new plant set up, merger of operations, operational growth strategy, supply chain and efficiency.
  • Profit improvement – Transactional profitability analysis (product, customer, channel, sector etc.), value chain and cost base analysis to support development of direct, indirect and SG&A cost reduction and revenue optimization plans.
  • Working capital improvement and cash generation including process change, control and governance.
  • Refinancing support to identify, negotiate and secure required debt facilities.
  • Accelerated disposal processes, solvent wind down and business unit closure.

Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Ben was Director of Strategic Projects at IMI PLC, a FTSE 250 global engineering group, where he led cost reduction, operational change, strategic growth and acquisition integration programs. Prior to this, Ben was a lead advisor at KPMG where he worked with clients to deliver profit improvement, turnaround and working capital improvements.

Ben has extensive experience working in the manufacturing and engineering sectors as well as oil and gas, food and retail and fast-moving consumer goods. He has worked with a wide range of business types including FTSE 100, private equity and owner-managed companies ranging from £10mn to £3bn turnover, including pre-disposal value enhancement and post-acquisition synergy delivery.

Ben’s international experience includes work in the U.S., Canada, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, China, India, Malaysia, Dubai, South Africa and Australia.

Ben is a chartered accountant and received his BSc from the University of London.
